Our Mission

To serve as a liaison between Arlington's mayor and its community stakeholders. We will lead, advocate for, and empower Black people and their families. We will provide the mayor with perspective and advice along with educating the community.

Our Vision

Creating an environment where every citizen is engaged and informed on the issues affecting the Black community as well as our triumphs.

Our History

Established by the Arlington City Council

The Arlington Unity Council was established by the Arlington City Council on June 23, 2020. The Unity Council has issued two major reports so far. The first report was presented to the City Council in February 2021. The second report, which provided updates on the progress of the council's recommendations and included additional recommendations, was released in August 2023.

The Mayor’s Advisory Council (s) and/or Task Force were created to provide the Mayor and City Council with first-hand insights from various community groups within Arlington. The creation of these councils was part of the city's efforts to ensure that policies and decisions reflect the diverse needs and perspectives of its residents.
