We are proud to serve as a bridge to resources and opportunities for Arlington's Black community. Have questions or need assistance?
The City of Arlington Mayor’s Black Advisory Council is to serve as a liaison between Arlington’s mayor and its community stakeholders. We will lead, advocate for, and empower Black people and their families. We will provide the mayor with perspective and advice along with educating the community.
The Mayor’s Black Advisory Council is committed to creating an environment where every citizen is engaged and informed on the issues affecting the Black Community as well as our triumphs.
The Arlington Unity Council was established by the Arlington City Council on June 23, 2020. The Unity Council has issued two major reports so far. The first report was presented to the City Council in February 2021. The second report, which provided updates on the progress of the council's recommendations and included additional recommendations, was released in August 2023.
The Mayor’s Advisory Council (s) and/or Task Force were created to provide the Mayor and City Council with first-hand insights from various community groups within Arlington. The creation of these councils was part of the city's efforts to ensure that policies and decisions reflect the diverse needs and perspectives of its residents.
